Economic agreements suicidal - CUTS

Consumer Unity Trust society CUTS has maintained that it will be suicidal for Zambia to sign the economic partnerships agreement.

CUTS Zambia Board chairperson Love Mtesa says that Zambia is not yet ready to engage in such a high magnitude of trade.

Ambassador Mtesa adds that if Zambia engages into the EPAs, the local industries risks being affected.

He stated that Zambia%u2019s current trade status cannot guarantee of its proper involvement in international trade.

Ambassador Mtesa says that Zambia stands to lose everything if such a consideration is put in place at the moment.

He says that the Zambian government should bear in mind that Zambia is ranked as a least developed country.
