Africa’s largest trading bloc says the continent requires
about US$93bn annually to raise infrastructure endowment to a
reasonable level within the next decade. COMESA says that out
of the total amount required, two thirds are needed to be
spent on capital development, rehabilitation and the remainder
on maintenance.

Economic Growth Improves in SSA

Economic growth in sub-Saharan Africa has largely returned
to pre-financial crisis levels but monetary tightening has
failed to keep pace, with rising fuel and food prices a
growing threat. The International Monetary Fund reiterated its
forecast of 5.5 percent GDP growth for the region in 2011 and
5.9 percent in 2012.
