Final Dissemination cum Advocacy Meeting

CUTS Center for Consumer Action, Research and Training (CUTS CART) in partnership with Partnership for Transparency Fund, Washington D.C. is implementing a project name as ‘Reforming the processes in the Rural Development Department through policy and civic engagement, based on RTI Act, 2005 in Rajasthan, India’, in Tonk and Jaipur districts, using RTI Act as a tool. Now the project is at concluding stage and as its last activity, a Final Dissemination cum Advocacy Meeting is proposed on Monday, April 26, 2010 in Jaipur and in this workshop final key findings (incorporating the suggestions of midterm workshop) will be shared with the stakeholders, policy makers, participants and media representatives for advocacy point of view and a set of recommendations will be given to policy makers so that appropriate reforming measures can be taken by the RD department. In the workshop Honorable Mr. Jagadananda, Information Commissioner of Orissa, Govt. officials, PIOs, PRI members, NGO representatives and project CGCCs would participate.

It is to know that under the project a ‘RTI Advisory and Information Cell’ was opened and ran though out the project period and a series of activities had been done from May, 2009 till so far including RTI evening classes, Block Level RTI Chaupals, transforming two Gram Panchayats in model in terms of RTI awareness and response capacity of panchayat officials in each district. ‘RTI Ground Realities and Corruption Vulnerability Analysis Survey’ in Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, Govt. of Rajasthan and for this survey, views/opinion and practical experiences of following respondents as PIOs/First Appellate Authorities and beneficiaries of NREGS, SGSY and Indira Awaas Yojana were taken and analyzed.
