CUTS-GRC
proposes to formally launch its first project in Geneva by
early April 2008 through the FEATS project, with a working
plan covering the period up to 2010. The intensity of
activities in Geneva and the five African developing
countries involved in the FEATS project will enable it to
deepen its longstanding relationship with many stakeholders
in the trade and development community in Africa including
with African government officials.
-
By the time
the first tranche of activities under the FEATS project
start bringing outcomes, it will leverage the networks
created through the project to develop more Africa centric
activities and projects. It will consider expanding
geographically in the African continent as well based on
issues relevant for the continent so as to become a bulwark
for the African voice in the Geneva trade and development
community.
-
Parallel to
the FEATS related activities, the Centre will increase its
interaction with the governmental and non-governmental
community from developing countries in Geneva to identify
their needs and then scout for activities for meeting those
needs. This effort will be fortified by contacts at the
national level in developing countries where
CUTS-International has partnerships and presence.
-
CUTS-International has already identified some programmes
where developing countries have expressed a desire for
capacity building. These include a project on global
governance and another on standards.
-
Based on
feedback and demand, by 2009, CUTS-GRC will expand
geographically further into the Asian region by interacting
with the stakeholders of that continent, including through
the resource centre in Hanoi, and identifying their needs
for research, advocacy and networking so that new programmes
and projects for that region can be initiated.
-
By 2010, it
proposes to become a full fledged Southern voice in Geneva
by establishing programmes and projects on a pan-developing
country basis.
-
CUTS-GRC will
continually monitor its performance against targets through
meetings of its General Assembly and with clients, funding
agencies, other stakeholders and international
intergovernmental organizations.
