Mission & Objectives

The Centre’s mission is to function as a resource centre for information on trade, regulation and governance with sustainable development being the cross-cutting thread. It also aims to build local, national and regional capacities of multiple stakeholders on issues based on trade and competition.

CUTS already has linkages with the NGOs, donor agencies, inter-governmental and governmental bodies, through this centre it aims to enhance these associations. The Centre would work in the areas of competition policy, investment, consumer protection, regional and multilateral trade and regulation. The Centre aims to:

  • establish civil society cooperation in the areas of trade, economic policies and the environment in Africa;

  • form national, regional and international coordination system and alliance building among organisations working on similar social and economic issues; and

  • focus on capacity building activities on international trade, consumer protection, foreign investment and competition policy issues at national, regional and international levels.

Welcome

CUTS Accra is the third centre of CUTS International in Africa.  The centre was inaugurated on 26th August 2013.

Having implemented projects on various elements of social and economic policy issues in Africa and other developing countries, CUTS realises that its experience as a civil society organisation (CSO) aiming to influence public policy through research would be vital in Ghana and the West Africa region (ECOWAS).
