| ‘Involvement
of Consumers in Power Sector Reforms in Rajasthan’ The ninth circle level training workshop under the
second phase of the CUTS-FES programme was organised at Barmer on
February 10, 2006. The main resource person was O P Chandak, Executive Engineer, Barmer Circle. Other resource person included Nathmal Parmar, Assistant District Project Coordinator, Sarv Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), Barmer, who dealt with the non-technical part of the session. In the workshop, sessions on capacity building in power reforms, awareness regarding the power reforms, power tariff settings, role of consumer organisations in power reforms were discussed. Workshop on Benefit Sharing and Prior Informed Consent February 8, 2006, Shillong A Capacity Building Workshop on “Benefit Sharing and Prior Informed Consent” under the Farmers’ Rights Programme (Phase-II) has been held on February 8, 2006 at Shillong. Consumer Unity & Trust Society, Calcutta Resource Centre (CUTS-CRC) and Centre for Environmental Studies, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) has jointly organized this workshop. It has been participated by a number of NGO functionaries, Government officials, researchers and media persons. Around 42 participants were there from allover the Khasi Region. This was an effort to sensitise the people on the issues and to strengthen their bargaining capacity in the question of sharing the benefits by any external entity from the natural resources and traditional knowledge.
