and Market Awareness Campaign (SMAC) |
Securities
and Market Awareness Campaign (SMAC) CUTS Centre for Consumer Action, Research & Training (CUTS CART), with the support of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Mumbai, organised the third workshop under the SMAC Phase-IV at Baran, on September 16, 2006. The aim of this workshop was to acclimatise the investors with the functioning of the securities market, such as the basic fundamentals of investment and risk management and their rights and responsibilities. Govind Prasad Garg, Chartered Accountant, Vijay Kumar Parik, Advocate and Secretary, Guardian Council and Pradeep Kumar Dalmia, Share Broker, facilitated the workshop and provided information on capital market and addressed the queries of the investors. The fact that came to light from the workshop was that the investors of Baran, including its adjoining villages are not aware of the capital market, so that they could invest their saved money or earned wealth in capital market suitably. Anwar Ahmed Khan, Chairman, Desh Sewak Welfare Society, Kota was the local coordinator. Dharmendra Chaturvedi and Badri Narayan Shrama of CUTS CART delivered introductory remarks about SMAC and CUTS respectively. The fourth workshop under SMAC Phase-IV was held in Bundi, Kota, on September 29, 2006. This programme was organised with assistance of networker Hari Parsad Yogi, President, Consumer Legal Help Society, Sawai Madhopur. The main speaker at the Bundi workshop was Rajendra,
Chartered Accountant, with a sound knowledge on stock and capital market.
The programme was well organised and attended. The media provided wide
coverage to the workshop.

Bal
Sammelan CUTS Centre for Human Development organised two-day Bal Sammelan (children meetings) under Hamara Manch – Rural Girls' Empowerment Programme (RGEP) at Chittorgarh, on September 16-17, 2006. The meeting discussed the role of Bal Panchayats in reducing the number of violence against girl child. An awareness generating rally was also organised. Under the Sammelan, a plan of action was prepared by Bal Panchayats to organise a number of events including awareness rallies, slogan writing and school debates along with people's representatives, heads of the community and village-level community organisations. Under the campaign, various competitions were organised
and the competitors standing I and II were distributed prizes by Nupur
Pande, Representatives, Save the Children, UK. About 180 children
including the children associated with RGEP, Savera organisation,
Ajmer; and Jaipur participated in the two-day Sammelan. |
Legal
Literacy Campaign CUTS Centre for Human Development (CUTS CHD) organised a 'Legal Literacy Campaign' under Hamara Manch – Rural Girls' Empowerment Programme (RGEP) at Baneda district, Chittorgarh, on September 07, 2006. The objectives of the campaign include: to create
awareness on Child Marriage Prohibition Act; Child Rights; and Child
Labour Act. A detailed future plan of action was prepared that focused
on reducing the number of violence against girl child. |
