Brief description of partner organisations:

The Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), Dhaka
  • The Institute started in Pakistan as the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) in June 1957.  The Institute was officially moved to Dhaka in January 1971. When Bangladesh emerged as a sovereign country in December of the same year, the Institute was renamed the Bangladesh Institute of Development Economics. It is a multi-disciplinary organization, which conducts policy oriented research on development issues.

CUTS Centre for International Trade, Economics & Environment, India
  • While CUTS was established in 1984, CUTS-CITEE was formed in 1996 as a dedicated Centre to work on trade and development issues. Over the years, the Centre has established itself as a key research, advocacy and networking body and working at different levels – local, national, regional and international.

South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics & Environment, Kathmandu, Nepal
  • SAWTEE was launched in 1994 by a consortium of non-governmental organization from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Among others, it has the mandate to conduct research on specific issues and disseminate the findings.

Pakistan Institute of Development Economics, Islamabad
  • Established in 1957, the broad mandate of PIDE is to carry out theoretical and empirical research on development economics, in general, and on Pakistan-related economic issues, in particular. It promotes cooperation between governmental, non-governmental and other agencies in the relevant fields of activities.

Institute of Policy Studies, Colombo, Sri Lanka
  • Established in 1988, the mission of IPS is to contribute to the economic development of a democratic Sri Lanka. Among others, it has the goal of strengthening the national capacity for economic policy analysis and to be a point of reference on national policy issues to the public
