Project Associates

Besides research partners, in each country a key non-governmental organisation and a representative business body has been taken on board as project Associates. They are to facilitate in consulting and providing inputs to research partners and organising national seminars. The following have been approached as adjunct project associates.

A brief description of NGO partners

Unnayan Shamannay, Dhaka, Bangladesh

  • Unnayan Shamannay is a Bangladshi NGO and denotes coordinated development activities, not in the narrow sense, but in the wider context of a living society. Established in 1994, its flagship programme is Unnayan Manusher Jonno (development for the people).

Citizen Consumer & Civil Action Group, Chennai, India

  • Established in 1985, CAG is a non-profit group that seeks to make critical policy changes through strategic interventions to benefit the citizen-consumer. Among others, its objective is to create and mobilize public opinion to enhance public participation in governance.

Forum for the Protection of Public Interest, Kathmandu, Nepal

  • Founded in 1991, ProPublic is a non-governmental organization dedicated to cause of public interest. It has been pursuing people’s rights through research, advocacy, capacity building and litigation. Among others, it has the objective of conducting research aimed at solving contemporary public interest issues.

WTO Watchgroup , Islamabad, Pakistan

  • WTO Watch Group (WWG) is an initiative by civil society organizations to develop critical awareness and pressure regarding Pakistan’s engagement with the World Trade Organization (WTO) and its implications through research, monitoring and advocacy. Law & Society Trust, Colombo, Sri Lanka

  • Established in 1982, LST is a non-profit body committed to improving public awareness on civil and political rights, social, economic and cultural rights and equal access to justice.

Project Evaluation

Professor Raghabendra Jha, Director, Australia South Asia Research Centre (ASARC), Australian National University, Canberra, Australia will do the final review of the papers. He will write the introductory chapter taking inputs from five studies.
