Established in 1983, Consumer Unity & Trust Society (CUTS) started off as a consumer protection organisation in Rajasthan, India. Since then, it has been working in several areas of public interest at the grassroots, national, sub-continental and international levels. These activities have now crystallised into five programmatic centres and three resource centres in India, Zambia, Kenya and UK under the umbrella of 'CUTS International'.
CUTS CENTRES

CITEE: CUTS Centre for International Trade, Economics & Environment, established in 1996, aims to be a high-level global standard institution for research and advocacy on multilateral trade and sustainable development issues.

CART: CUTS Centre for Consumer Action, Research & Training at Jaipur works towards enabling people, especially women and other disadvantaged groups of society, to assert their rights so that they can achieve the right to basic needs and sustainable development through a strong consumer movement.

CHD: CUTS Centre for Human Development, situated at Chittorgarh, Rajasthan seeks to empower rural people, especially women and disadvantaged groups of society through innovative strategies of social action.

C-CIER CUTS Centre for Competition, Investment & Economic Regulation, Jaipur, established in 2003, aims to be  a centre of excellence on regulatory issues. The centre has been created to give focused attention to our work on competition, investment and economic regulation.

CUTS-CRC: CUTS Calcutta Resource Centre has a unique feature of working simultaneously on Consumer Safety and Grassroots Economic Development.

CUTS-ARC: CUTS Africa Resource Centres at Lusaka, Zambia and Nairobi, Kenya functions as resource, coordination as well as networking centres to promote South-South co-operation on trade & development.

CUTS-LRC: CUTS London Resource Centre at London function as the international advocacy centre of CUTS, other than acting as a support facility for other centres of CUTS. The Centre is working towards bridging the gap between the North and the South and it acts as a platform for the North-South dialogue.

CUTS-DRC: CUTS-Delhi Resource Centre at New Delhi functions as the national advocacy centre of CUTS, other than acting as a support facility for other centres in India.

A Unique Initiative...

INCSOC: International Network of Civil Society Organisations on Competition was formed recently as a result of the crying need of several civil society organisations. The need was assessed under the 7-Up Project and the Network is an outcome of the same.

It aims to build a network of stakeholders of competition policy and law so that the competition regimes at the national level could be strengthened, and developed where absent.
